Where did the monoliths come from?
Speculations lead to otherworldly involvement.
Needless to say, the immediate involvement of NSAa51 officials gave
rise to speculation about the origins of both rocks. But the debate began
as soon as the first image of Monolith 2 reached earth.

This rock, known as Monolith 2, has created a furor of speculation
about life on other planets and the origins of life on Earth.

Several NASA astronomers insist that, while the probability of finding
two almost identical rocks seems enormous, it is still within the range
of probability and should not create speculation about alien spacecraft
and the existence of ET.
But even many NASA scientists find the probabilities implausible and
believe the two monoliths, like the monoliths in Space Odyssey, were put
here deliberately.
Even my own source leans toward that conclusion, and insists that there
may be more evidence of extra-terrestrial life to come. Right now
the photographs have only been distributed to a few key people. If I let
them go, the powers that be would know who gave this stuff to you. In
a few more days, they'll pass through a dozen more hands at the White
House, UN and NATO, just like the ones I already gave you, and I'll pass
them to you then. (top)
Does Monolith 2 Hint at Origins of Life?
Sources at NASA also seem to think that analysis of both Monoliths could
lead scientists to discovery of the elusive "Ur
Molecule" (a proto-molecule that would have been the first self-duplicating
molecule, giving rise to early life forms).
The origins of life are still a mystery, and one of the biggest mysteries
is how molecules began to self-replicate, and then to differentiate themselves
into more complex organisms. In fact, some scientists believe the genetic
encoding of such Ur molecules could contain the secrets to not only the
origins of life, but of the universe as well.
Secretly, many scientists are skeptical. "That kind of nonsense
is right out of Carl Sagan's novel 'Contact,'" said Dr. David McKay,
a member of the original team to research the meteorite AHL84001.
"Keep science fiction in the theaters and off the web," he added
before he hung up.
My own secret source at NASA, however, assures me that McKay's team,
and a new team that includes Stanley Miller, UC San Diego, who produced
amino acids from a chemical bath believed to resemble earth's environment
twenty billion years ago; Stuart Kaufmann, whose research focuses on self-organizing
molecules; neurobiologist Francis Crick, who discovered DNA; and linguist
Noam Chomsky, will try to reverse engineer the UR molecule from evidence
found in both rocks.
"The Area 51 guys have five times the budget NASA has. They can
put the best brains in the country on this," my source assured me.
"You just wait. There will be Nobel prizes handed out for this one.
Unfortunately, everyone involved will be dead fifty years before the government
makes their information public." (Top)
