Make Sure Your Modem is Secure
On 8/5/97 I posted this message:
"I am sending a message from a friend's machine. All my access
to this web page has been cut off. My logic board went out on my Mac, the
laptop I bought is caught in the UPS strike, and my hard drive crashed at
work.
They don't want this message to get out and they may be monitoring you!
I know this sounds a little paranoid but look at how they changed the
spelling of "terrestrial" in the page title. I assure you I spelled
it right.
I will make contact as soon as possible with incredible news."
But you almost didn't find out because, after my computer was returned
with a new logic board (or so I was told), it suffered total systems failure
wiping out my hard drive and all my back-up data regarding Pathfinder.
Fortunately my source at NSAa51, the very
friend who put me on to this story, had access to Area 51 downloads of my
data and restored them to me. Another friend, whom I won't name, loaned
me his Wintel machine to get the newest installment up.
This alone should convince you that the story is on the level, because any
hacker knows you have to have a Mac to fake photos and make them look this real.
