Bush blames liberal media for WMD confusion

misquotes and bad fact checking lead to unwarranted criticism

Hussein's yacht was one of the many weapons of mass recreation that prompted US invasion.

President Bush told reporters today that he has been misquoted ever since he began his campaign to launch a military assault on Iraq. "Everyone insists I said we were looking for weapons of mass destruction. But they got it wrong. We were looking for weapons of mass recreation."

White House staff members insist that they wanted to stop Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass recreation, and the liberal media seized upon a simple typing or editing error to mislead the public into thinking Hussein had “weapons of mass destruction.”

"The record will show we found those weapons of mass recreation," Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced. “We found palaces, yachts, SUVs, and even a couple of RVs that could have been used to make chemicals as well.”

Departing White House spokesperson Ari Fleischer said, "This is the fault of the liberal media. Had they gotten their facts straight, people would recognize our resounding success."

Flesicher also added that the White House will be changing all references to Euraisa in White House Correspondence to "Europa."
